Hi everyone, I’m Dr. LaRocca. I’m the Founder/CEO, Primary Care Physician, and Obesity Medicine Specialist here at LaRocca Medical. We are in the process of rebranding from LaRocca Medical Weight Loss to LaRocca Medical.
It is SO exciting. We are a Direct Primary Care and Obesity Specialty Practice. Going forward we are combining the two, so you can think of me as your personal physician and weight loss expert.
Up until now, I would see patients as their weight loss specialist only if they had a primary care provider. I will absolutely be keeping those patients here to serve them as long as needed, but going forward for all new patients it will be a combined service only.
The reason being is that I truly love taking comprehensive care of people including chronic disease (such as excess weight, high cholesterol, or diabetes), preventative care (such as breast, cervical, and colon cancer screening), and urgent care needs (such as sinus infections, GI bugs, and giving stitches).
My goal for each one of you is to have longevity with a good quality of life - to me that includes a sound mind and physically active body. To do that we need to make sure we are decreasing your cardiovascular risk - heart attacks are the number one killer and blocked vessels in the brain lead to stroke or dementia. Let’s decrease that risk, shall we?
Together we will determine YOUR goals and marry them with my goals for your health from the medical side of the house. I am a primary care physician through and through. I love treating my patients for excess weight and also menopause care with hormone replacement therapy. You are a whole person and you need holistic care. So we’ve got that covered.
So today kicks off a new approach to sharing the replays from the weekly Zoom calls we have with our patients. Previously the video replays were posted in a password protected site - now they will be recorded as a podcast for easier access. These podcasts are available for all, but only patients of LaRocca Medical have access to the live weekly strategy sessions with me. Our mission this year is to simply and elevate everything, so more to come on that.
So let’s dive in. Today during our strategy session we focused on maintaining purposeful thoughts to create the results you want to see in your life.
Review Mindset
* Define priorities
* Identify the results you want in your life
* Decide what actions need to be taken
* Create purposeful thoughts to stay driven
* Accountability with weekly group strategy sessions
Now we are going to start with your biggest pain point.
Write down a few sentences or if you are driving let your brain come up with a few thoughts about your biggest pain point. Identify the facts. If you're writing, circle them. The rest of the thoughts or sentences are your thoughts about the facts. This is an important distinction.
How do those thoughts make you feel right now?
What do you really want the outcome to be in regards to this pain point?
What do you need to do to get there?
What do you need to be feeling to take those actions?
What thought makes you feel that way?
That is your purpose driven thought.
Practice that thought to generate the feeling you need to continue to take massive action.
It really is that simple if you let it be.
When you are confused about what to do next you will stay stuck and keep getting the current results you have in your life. If you want new results you need to maintain your purposeful thoughts. Your thoughts are directly responsible for the results you have in your life.
Let’s go over some of the examples from our session.
Current mindset–
Facts: Laid off
Thought: My career went downhill. It’s hard to find a new job. This is a financial burden. This is a dead end.
Feeling: Disheartened
Action: Stuck
Result: No job.
Purposeful mindset–
Facts: Laid off.
Thought: I’m worth being hired as a digital marketing assistant.
Feeling: Determined
Action(s): update portfolio, network on LinkedIn, apply to 10 positions, one interview
Result: Hired as digital marketing assistant within 20 miles of home and making $70k per year minimum
Current mindset–
Facts: High lipoprotein (a) and high cholesterol
Thought: I’m going to die really young.
Feeling: Uncertain, scared, defeated
Action(s): Scattered
Result: High lipoprotein (a) and high cholesterol, not decreasing cardiovascular risk
Purposeful mindset–
Facts: High lipoprotein (a) and high cholesterol with family history of early death
Thought: I will do everything within my power to live a long life for my kids.
Feeling: Determined.
Action: Exercise 3x per week consistently.
Result: Mitigate risk as much as possible, specifically decrease LDL < 70.
Make sure you do the work here. REALLY answer these questions.
